Wonderboom, the cave & the historical fort
The reserve is named after a gigantic Wild Fig Tree that is over 1000 years old and is rumored to be able to shade over 1000 people and 22 Ox at once, Wonderboom is part of the Magaliesberg range. The reserve also boasts a waterfall, mysterious caves that have a great traditional significance to the northern Sotho people and it is home to the remains of Fort Wonderboompoort built in 1897 to protect Pretoria from the invading English. Along the hike one can also discover an abundance of wildlife from Zebras and Impala to Bushbabies and Black Eagles and much more.

The hike is about 3 hours long and does have sections with a steep incline however this hike is suited for most fitness levels and children. The hike can also be customized depending on groups fitness
