out there in
Western Namibia
“Its like being inside of a Salvador Dali painting”… to walk amongst the towering red dunes of the Namib desert and discover creatures perfectly adapted to life in this harsh environment.
Colours, shapes and shadows merge in the quivering air to form a fantastical world where Big Daddy, one of the biggest dunes worldwide, overlooks Deadvlei with its iconic, dark tree skeletons standing silently on dry, white clay.
To the east of the great Sand Sea is the Namibrand where those who hike up the Tiras mountains are rewarded with unsurpassed views of the area where granite mountains, endless grass plains and sand sea meet.
The Naukluft mountain is a hikers paradise with 2 excellent day hikes and the tough “bucket list” hikes of 4 or 8 days. The national park was established to protect the endangered Mountain Zebra and is still home to these elegant creatures.
Witnessing a lone oryx casually strolling into the desert, tirelessly cresting dune after dune in its quest for a juicy morsel, one understands why Namibia is called “Land of the Brave”
