itinerary
We arrive at Spitzkoppe in the late afternoon, set up camp and go for a stroll in this gigantic landscape where mountains look like great flames at sunset.
We appreciate the sparkling night skies as our campfire dies down… an experience never to be forgotten.
- dry toilets at campsites, showers near reception
Today we grab our breakfast packs and tackle the short but steep route to the Bushman’s Paradise cave with its well preserved San paintings. We enjoy our breakfast picnic style amongst ancient granite boulders.
Accompanied by a guide from the local community, we have a wonderful insight into the lives and culture of the tribes inhabiting this land, the clicking sounds of the Nama/Damara language creating knots in our brains and laughter in our bellies as we fail to reproduce the sounds.
We escape the mid day sun at the rockpools (seasonal) before another 2 hour walk to fascinating rock formations.
Another night with stars blazing across the heavens rounds of our day once again.
This morning we enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we break up camp and start our journey back to Windhoek which we reach around lunch time.
