Namibia has an abundance of grand landscapes that are stark contrasts to one another. From the flora diversity in the Waterberg Wilderness with natural springs and the geological wonder of Waterberg to the isolated yet dramatic landscapes of Damaraland and Sossusvlei which paint a classic desert picture. The tour explores these contrasted landscapes while also getting to know the local people and wildlife. It is the perfect tour to get a basic idea of the different regions in Namibia and to take incredible photos with some of the most breathtaking views in the world.

In the Waterberg Wilderness and Sossusvlei one can expect some challenging areas with thick sand and/ or steep inclines, the hikes do require surefootedness and a average fitness level.
The weather can also effect the conditions of an activity.

itinerary
Our journey begins after arrival in Hosea Kutako Airport close to Windhoek which is the capital of Namibia and home to a population of around 350 000.
We make our way towards Lake Oanob which is surrounded by the African Savanna and is a perfect place to unwind after a long flight. After arriving at our accommodation we take some time to enjoy the lake and relax before going on a short walk to get closer to the wildlife such as springbuck, red hartebeest and kudu as well as more than 100 bird species.

We rise early to make our way south towards Mariental which is home to the typical Red Kalahari Dunes and unique cultural groups such as the Nama who are part of the Khoekhoe ethnic and have been in southern Africa for thousands of years. The Nama are highly skilled artisans, so their handiwork is highly prized.
Once we arrive at our Accommodation we have time to check in before leaving to explore the geological wonders of the areas. The Artisan Water which rises to temperatures of about 32˚ C and forms natural pools perfect for a warm sundowner.
Afternoon visit to Auros Farm.

We make our way further south towards the Quivertree Forest which boosts the biggest collection of Quiver trees in the World. The site is a National Monument of Namibia.
After settling into our accommodations and making use of the many amenities such as the cool pool , we go for a walk though the Quivertree Forest.
The Forest has an incredible landscape that looks unreal during sunset, that is also the best time to capture that great shot.

Early morning start to catch the sunrise at the Giants playground
Short hike(+-1 hour walking) and walk back to camp for lunch.
Free-time in the afternoon for swimming and birdwatching.
Afternoon set aside for a cheetah experience available at Rest Camp to learn about animal behaviour and lifestyle.

We make our way to the Fish River Canyon. The Canyon is the second biggest Canyon in the World and is about 160 km long, up to 27 Km wide and up to 550 Meters deep. The Canyon offers incredible views and the unique opportunity to look into the past by exploring the sedimentary rock layers dating back millions of years
We spend the day hiking on the Canyon Wall (+- 3 hours ) and do lunch at the Canyon before heading back to our Accommodation.

We make our way to the Wild Desert Horses which are incredible in their own right as they are the only horses that have adapted at thrived while living in the harsh desert environment.
The horses are thought to have originated from the German army ” Schutztruppe” in 1915.
We take time to explore the area and spend dinner together under the stars.

We make our way to the small harbor town of Lüderitz as it boasts well maintained old colonial houses with a rich history , as well as appealing coastal beaches.
We have lunch in town and have a look around
We make our way to the Kolmaskop Ghost Town which used to be the richest town in Africa but has since been swallowed by the desert and offers unique landscapes.

The Private Reserve that we stay at is a 20 000 hectare wilderness reserve that borders on the Namibrand Nature Reserve and shares the fauna. Namibrand Nature Reserve contains mountains, savannahs and dunes which aid in its Biodiversity. The Park is also famed for it’s mysterious fairy circles which are still debated by scientists.
We go on an open vehicle game drive and have an opportunity to view the wildlife only found in the area.

We spend the day hiking in the reserve and coming back in the hot hours of the day for lunch and a cool down in the pool.
We spend the evening together at the lodges restaurant.

We go for a short walk in the Sesriem Canyon (+- 2-3 hours).
The Tsauchab River has shaped the Canyon over millions of years and it is one of the few places in the area that holds water all year round. Watch the sunset along with the Baboons who group at the Canyon in the evenings.

Early departure…
as we make our way into the Namib desert for sunrise to be among the dunes and catch the golden glow of the air as the sun aluminates the orange sand.
We walk through the sand see to the famed Deadvlei , we have a view of the giant dune “Big Daddy Dune”. We have lunch surrounded by dunes and make our way to Sosussvlei which is the green Oasis of the River (+- 5 hours ).

Swakopmund is the activity center of Namibia and the towns positioning to the Atlantic Ocean makes its Climate a stark difference to the Arid Desert.
We explore the town and have the possibility to do a Balloon flight over the Namib Desert .
In the afternoon we have some free-time before heading out to a local restaurant for dinner.

Drive 300 km
We visit Spitzkoppe which is one of the most photographed mountain motifs in Namibia for a good reason. The Landscape is beautiful and has been admired by humans for thousands of years. Proof of this is visible by the hundreds of rock paintings in the area.
We stretch our legs on a 1-2 hour walk around the fascinating granite formations in the area.
During the afternoon we make our way to Brandberg and the land of our unique Desert adapted elephants.

The impressive Brandberg reaches a height of 2573m and is home to abundant wildlife that has a very unique lifestyle living in the Desert .
We get to know the wildlife by tracking the desert Elephants through the arid gorges.

in the afternoon we got to know the one of thousands of rock paintings that are found on the mountain and show the long and diverse human history.

After Breakfast we make the 160km journey to Ugab Terrace Lodge with its incredible views over the Ugab river bed.
The pool offers a welcome respite during the hot hours of the day
Sunset is best viewed from the Balcony of the Lodge where one can marvel at the ever-changing colours as the sun disappears over the distant horizon.

Etosha National Park is our goal for the day . Etosha means “great white area” and this refers to the immense Salt Pan within the park that is the biggest in Africa. The water that collects on the Salt Pans during the rain season attracts thousands of flamingos.
The drastic variety in the landscape also allows for many animals to thrive. For example Lions, elephants, giraffe, cheetah, hyena, Oryx and many more species can be spotted in the Park.
We spend the day game driving within the Park and stop for lunch in the heat of the day.
In the afternoon we can spend the evening looking out for game at the waterhole.

Early morning we start our game drive for the day. Starting early makes for better picture and higher chances of seeing cats and hyenas.
For lunch we stop at the waterhole and have the chance to cool off in the lodge pool.
The afternoon is spent on a game drive before retuning to the camp and having the chance to spot more game at the waterhole which is positioned just outside our chalets.

Waterberg is a 50 km long and 16 km wide table mountain that is evidence of fascinating geological genesis. The mountain was formed about 160 million years ago as the force from America splitting from Africa.
Waterberg Wilderness in home to rare game species such as sable , buffalo, black and white rhino.
We get close to these incredible animals by doing a Rhino walk where we follow their trail with the help of local Rangers. These Rangers spend their days protecting the Rhinos so they have unique knowledge about their behavior. (2-3 hours)

After Breakfast we go for a walk on the Waterberg Plateau which gives us grand views over the reserve and the chance to get close to the unique flora .
At lunchtime we come back to the lodge for lunch and siesta.
In the afternoon we go on another walk for about 2 hours before heading back to the lodge.

good to know
important information
- Documents such as a copy of passport, PCR test, vaccines and itinerary
- Clothing such as, sport shoes, hiking boots and comfortable clothes for cold and warm weather
- Raingear, headtorch, water bottle at least 1 l, sun protection, swimwear ect.
- All Guides are training in First Aid and a First Aid kit with assistance will always be available.
- Covid 19 : the tour will still take place but with some Covid rules and regulations in place. It is important to present a negative Covid test (not older that 72 hours) when arriving from another country. Masks must be worn in public areas.
- The guides are vaccinated and will be PCR tested before the tour.
- With an average of 300 days of sunshine annually Namibia is one of the sunniest countries in the world.
- In general Namibia’s climate can be described as hot and dry, substantial fluctuations during the seasons or even within one day are typical. The different regions show considerable climatic differences regarding precipitation and temperature though. The amount of precipita-tion increases from the southwest to the northeast from an annual 0 mm to a maximum of 600 mm.
