Namibia
A 14-day journey for body, mind and soul. Forget about the hustle and bustle of modern everyday life as we trek through some of the most remote, untouched areas in Namibia.
- Swakopmund
- 5 days trekking with wild camping in Damaraland
- Etosha National Park
- Waterberg Plateau Park
- Windhoek
Expect breath-taking Namib landscapes, fascinating geological features, unique endemic succulents and starry nights.
We take a proverbial step back in time while hiking from Messum Crater to Brandberg mountain. As we follow in the footsteps of the ancient Brandberg civilization, we encounter enigmatic stone circles built in a forgotten era and rock paintings which still resists interpretation by modern humans.
In Etosha National Park we enjoy a full day safari to get closer to Namibian wildlife and give our legs a day’s rest before we continue to Waterberg Plateau Park with its abundance of water, giant Ficus trees and prolific wildlife. Waterberg has been an oasis on the edge of the Kalahari providing water, food and protection to humans for thousands of years. Today we leave the cool, misty coastal weather behind us as we drive into the desert to our base camp at Messum Crater.
As we progress, the road conditions deteriorate until we are slowly creeping forward utilizing four-wheel drive. Depending on conditions at the time, the driving time could vary between 5 and 8 hours.
When we arrive at camp, we setup for the next 2 nights and let the complete silence, magnitude and colour palette of the crater flood our senses, flushing away thoughts of a rushed world.
When night settles and the stars light up the sky, we keep our gazes turned up to spot the latest shooting star in its fleeting flash of fire before it disappears forever.
Overnight: Wild camping Messum Base.

After an early breakfast we break up camp and let our feet crunch over the coarse ground as we hike towards Brandberg in the distance.
Incredible landscapes and colour combinations unfold as we cross the craters edge, and we see Brandberg in its full glory for the first time. Blazing red at sunset it draws us today as it did the ancient civilization who roamed here more than 2000 years ago, leaving stone circles, stone tools and ostrich shell beads in their wake.
These quiet markers of their existence leave us with more questions than answers about this ancient race as rock paintings still carry their ancient messages, but there is no one left to interpret it, leaving modern humans to theorise and scratch their heads.
Hike: 5-7 hours, ca. 15 km
Overnight: Daures halfway camp – Wild camping
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided by guides.
A hearty breakfast sets us off on our way to Brandberg; we leave the utter silence of Messum crater and see more vegetation, and with some luck, some Springbuck, Ostrich or Giraffe.
Our camp is nestled at the foot of the mountain with rock paintings and remnants of a stone circle settlement nearby.

Brandberg with its secret pockets of stored water during the dry season is not only dotted with stone age settlements, rock paintings and cultural treasures but it is also a geological wonder renowned for its semi-precious stones.

As we go to bed on our last wild camp, our hearts are full of wonder for the land and the ancestors who lived here so long ago.
